NaNo, NaNo…

The first full week is here. crest-bda7b7a6e1b57bb9fb8ce9772b8faafbHow’s everyone doing? So far, I’ve done better than I anticipated. We’ll see if I can keep it up. I’ve followed some of the NaNo chatter, from ‘I’m getting nowhere,’ to ‘Yeah me, got 2,600 words today.’ One list I follow on Facebook has a Google doc where everyone can upload their goals and how they did toward them each day. There is a lot of support out there for this event. Whether you’re struggling or just want some interaction through the experience check out other NaNo competitors and embrace a little socialization. πŸ™‚

Love this piece of advice on writing a novel from Brian Klems:

Stop trying.

Your novel needs less β€œtrying” and more β€œdoing” from you. Like Yoda said, Do or do not. There is no try.

  1. LOL. That was the first piece of advise I read when I started writing a musical–which is a great deal harder than writing a novel I’ll have you know. Glad I didn’t listen. πŸ˜‰

    • I believe you. I cannot imagine writing a musical, all the narrative things to accomplish plus music, plus lyrics….no, not in my talent toolkit. πŸ™‚ Good for you though!!

  2. Yes, More is what I need. I also need no day job. Sigh. It’s good to have goals, right?

  3. What I love about NaNo is it forces the doing. I’ve been trying to write book 2 for almost a year, and now I’m doing. Hope you are still feeling good about NaNo. I just hit 27K this evening, I’m hoping to be at 35K by the end of Friday.
